LEADERS LINK – Olivia takes a bite out of global blindness

Olivia Dam has joined the board of SEE International (www.seeintl.org). She has been asked to lead their newly formed advisory group for sustainable Ophthalmology programs around the world.

As part of her director role, she traveled to Northern India in December to better understand the infrastructure and eye care needs. She also refreshed her skills in manual cataract surgery so that she would be better prepared to teach others.

253 Million people live with visual impairment worldwide and Cataract is a leading cause. Through her work with SEE International, both at home and abroad, Olivia hopes to develop training, education and self sustaining facilities that can put an end to this unnecessary cause of blindness.
